I have only had it about 3 weeks but am happy with it so far. Resolution is very accurate so far. Returns to zero setting on the dial consistently. Ron

Ok I got the new V2 G0704 spindle to from grizzly. Does look like it is nicer machined work on it. Here is a photo. I really like using the magnetic scales as they are smaller and more compact on the machine. I have a Grizzly G0722R milling machine and I installed a 4 axis EL-700 DRO PRO with magnetic scales, I can combine my Y (head) and U (quill) axis for a single readout or have them display separately this is an outstanding DRO system.

I see the G0704 has a big fan club, but I want to get a mill that I won't want to upgrade in a year or so. For a little more money (really the same money if you add the power feed to the G0704) the G0754 is bigger with power feed but it has a round column, then a little more money the G0755 has power feed and the dovetail column.

Cutting of the slot. Work piece unbolted from the table and slid to the left end of milling table. Using 1-2-3 blocks and edge finder to re-establish X axis location. I used a 0.0005" dial test indicator to check that the milled slot was parallel to X-axis by less than 0.001" before fully tightening the clamps.
While I do have room for a Bridgeport, those for sale in my area are running two to three times my budget (the cost of a G0704 delivered). I have been leaning toward the Precision Matthews, both based on the comments here and from the web page descriptions, it appears to have slightly better "features".

The g0705 is going to be more durable in every way over the 704 although there are benefits of one wants to upgrade to CNC that the 704 has ready made kits everywhere. I made my own for the enco and it wasn't that bad. I'm about to convert my PM833t and would like another mill to keep manual.
